A jet pump is used to pump a fluid such as recycled monomer or a modifier into the polymer/monomer product mixture leaving the tubular reactor. This helps further cool the product mixture after polymerization in the tubular reactor. The tubular reactor is bumped periodically to disrupt laminar flow and improve heat transfer during the exothermic polymerization reaction.
