## Abstract We calculated the Auger ionization rate between excitons in semiconducting carbon nanotubes and graphene nanoribbons. Because of the enhanced Coulomb interaction, the exciton is ionized into free electron‐hole continuum by the exciton‐exciton scattering. Our calculation shows that the Auger ionization time is small, picosecond order, compared with the other recombination processes, and it is useful to generate free electron‐hole carriers (© 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
