This article investigates using pH, zinc sulfate, and potassium metabisulphite to selectively float galena over marmatite from the Broken Hill orebody in Australia. Laboratory flotation tests showed that marmatite was depressed under alkaline conditions, and selectivity was greatest when both zinc sulfate and potassium metabisulphite were added, either individually or combined. The best results used both depressants under alkaline pH, producing a 72.6% lead concentrate at 98% recovery with less than 4% zinc
