Porsche is using a newly developed 3.8-l gasoline engine with two VTG chargers in the 911 Turbo S of the current 992 model series. The six-cylinder boxer develops up to 478 kW at 6750 rpm and 800 Nm maximum torque at 2500 to 4000 rpm -51 kW and 50 Nm more than the predecessor model. The increased output is the result of a redesigned intercooler, the use of piezo injection valves and larger and symmetrically designed VTG turbochargers with electrically adjustable waste gate flaps. Their impellers now rotate in opposite directions on the right and left-hand sides of the vehicle; the diameter of the turbine wheels has increased by 5 to 55 mm and the compressor wheel by 3 to 61 mm. The waste gate flaps are controlled electrically by stepper motors. Power is transmitted via an eight-speed double-clutch transmission.
