The fragment was found in an Early Iron Age context dated to the 11th century BCE at Tel Aphek in Israel. It is part of a clay tablet with an unknown script consisting of 15 signs impressed onto the tablet. The orientation of the tablet and direction of writing is unclear, but is tentatively identified as being read from right to left based on the continuation of writing at the edge.
