vaccines, with at least two vaccine candidates, influenza and Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19), reaching advanced stages in clinical trials [7]. In this review, we provide an up-to-date overview of cutting-edge research that is providing new designer crops enriched in high value-added metabolites for PMF using NPBTs (Figure 1, Key Figure).
