What is A finite-element study of ultrasonic wave propagation and scattering in an aluminum block : Ludwig, R.; Lord, W. Materials Evaluation, Vol. 46, No. 1, pp. 108–113 (Jan. 1988) about?

Sweden), N87-14746,24 pp. (Aug. 1986) The extension of a high frequency resonance technique to three dimensional fatigue crack growth studies is described. Determination of stress intensity factor solutions for semielliptical crack shapes in resonance type of specimens is performed by means of compliance measurements and finite element modelling. Experimental studies are performed on Al 7475-I761 to study the growth behaviour of short and long surface cracks. In order to verify the experimental technique, fatigue threshold tests were performed and compared both to low frequency test data and also to two dimensional test results.
