What is Acknowledgements about?

This book is the result of a conversation that began at the European Association of Japanese Studies (EAJS) meeting held in Tallinn, Estonia in 2011. This idea for a volume on media and memory was continuously developed over the following years, particularly during a sabbatical visit by Artur to SOAS in 2013 and a short teaching stint in Barcelona by Lola in 2016. The last few years of editing have seen the chapters undergoing many changes before becoming this book and for this we thank our indefatigable contributors. Our thanks also go to Berghahn production staff, who have been especially helpful in the editing process, and to the anonymous readers who helped us refine the book's argument.
