This study investigates the use of PHPA polymer to modify the rheological and filtration properties of water-based drilling fluids containing bentonite. Results show that adding PHPA significantly reduces fluid loss and alters the rheological behavior of the suspensions, transforming them from yield-pseudoplastic to power law fluids. Scanning Electron Microscope images confirm the effective bonding of PHPA to bentonite and shale cuttings, enhancing borehole stability and fluid performance.
