AirTouch Communications merged with several companies throughout the late 1990s, ultimately becoming part of Verizon Wireless. It began as a spin-off of PacTel Cellular in 1994. AirTouch later merged with Vodafone in 1999, forming Vodafone AirTouch, which then combined its US wireless assets with Bell Atlantic to form Verizon Wireless in 2000, bringing an end to the AirTouch brand.
