Spectral Lines of Single Molecules in a Fluctuating Environment by Taras Plakhotnik is a Materials Science article available to read on EtoBox.
What is Spectral Lines of Single Molecules in a Fluctuating Environment about?
When a single quantum system (SQS) interacts with a #uctuating environment, ordinary approaches to spectroscopy fail because measured spectra are subject to strong stochastic #uctuations. Strictly speaking, it is also impossible to employ spectral line shape theories based on the #uctuation dissipation theorem for such systems. Such theories apply when light interacts with an ensemble of SQSs or with a SQS but for an in"nitely long time. A way out of both experimental and theoretical di$culties is o!ered by intensity}time}frequency-correlation (ITFC) spectroscopy. In this report a theoretical foundation of the method is explained in detail. Presented computer simulations show advantages of the technique, regions where the old approaches give rise to big errors, and also where they are still valid. 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
