What is Cassie: Record-Setting Running Robot about?

Cassie, a two-legged robot created at Oregon State University, set a record by being the first robot to regulate its running stride on outdoor terrain using machine learning. Cassie ran 5 kilometers outside in 53 minutes while untethered, falling twice during the run. The robot learned to balance dynamically through little modifications to stay upright, a major breakthrough for two-legged robots.
