What is Crizotinib: Fatal interstitial lung disease: case report about?

## Fatal interstitial lung disease: case report A 47-year-old woman developed interstitial lung disease during treatment with crizotinib for lung adenocarcinoma. Subsequently, she died. The woman had a diagnosis of SDC4-ROS1 rearrangementpositive advanced lung adenocarcinoma, for which, she started receiving oral crizotinib 250mg twice a day. Though this led to a significant shrinkage in intrapulmonary neoplastic lesions, she developed multiple new-onset ground-glass opacities along with consolidations in both lungs. Under the impression of infection, she received additional treatment with cefoperazone/sulbactam. Following the therapy, the level of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and WBCs increased, while the ESR and CRP levels depleted. Histological examination of these biopsies showed a diffuse alveolar oedema, thickening of the septa, macrophages or foamy macrophages prominently present in alveolar spaces, mild infiltration of inflammatory lymphocytes, monocytes, fibroblasts and myofibroblasts in the interstitium, rare and atypical hyaline membrane formations in alveolar spaces, multiple hyaline thrombi in pulmonary arterioles and atypical hyperplasia of type II alveolar epitheli
