What is Prostaglandin Release by Macrophages about?
Antigen-antibody complexes (Ag/Ab) formed at equivalence stimulate the synthesis and release of prostaglandins by mouse peritoneal macrophages. Ag/Ab in submicrogram quantities increases the release of arachidonic acid and production of prostaglandin E2 and 6-keto-prostaglandin F1α in a dose-dependent manner. This stimulated prostaglandin synthesis occurs without cell death and can be inhibited by anti-inflammatory drugs.
