What is Food Security about?

This study examined the relationship between household food security status and weight using data from national health surveys. It found that compared to women in food secure households, women in marginally or insecure households were more likely to be obese. For men, those in marginally secure households were more likely to be obese and gain weight, but the effects were smaller than for women. The study concludes that intermediate levels of food insecurity are related to higher rates of obesity for women.
