What is Peer Relations and Academic Progress about?

This study investigates the relationship between peer relations and academic progress in Dutch junior high schools, analyzing data from 18,735 students. Results indicate that students accepted by peers are less likely to experience grade retention or downward movement in the educational track, although relatedness and engagement do not fully explain this association. The findings also suggest that the quality of class climate influences the relationship between peer acceptance and academic outcomes.
