This paper presents a new method called PVONA for simulating photovoltaic devices that overcomes limitations of previous SPICE-based approaches. PVONA uses a sparse data structure and GPU-based parallel processing to enable efficient high-resolution 2D simulations. Tests showed PVONA could generate local current/voltage maps for a 316x316 node model 15 seconds, 4.6% of the time required by SPICE.
