What is First Thanksgiving: Pilgrims about?

The Puritans fled religious persecution in England and decided to establish a colony in America where they could practice freely. In 1620, 102 Puritans traveled on the Mayflower and arrived in present-day Massachusetts after a difficult voyage. The first winter was very hard and 45 Pilgrims died, but the Wampanoag tribe helped the survivors. The harvest of 1621 was bountiful, so the Pilgrims and Native Americans had a three-day celebration that is now known as the first Thanksgiving.
