About this document

OSPF Routing Protocol Overview and Insights by naeem is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Open shortest path first (OSPF) is an open standard link-state routing protocol that uses the Dijkstra algorithm to construct shortest paths and populate routing tables. OSPF supports VLSM, CIDR, classless routing, unlimited hop counts, and both IPv4 and IPv6. It divides large networks into areas to reduce routing overhead and speed up convergence. The backbone area connects all other areas and uses area border routers.
