As can be seen from the "Introduction" (Chapter 1, pp. 1-9), this is the first study in a book form which is entirely devoted to the West Semitic onomasticon of the Murag0 Archive. The "Introduction" is followed by five chapters: 11. "List of West Semitic Names" (pp. 11-41), III. "Glossary of Theophorous Elements" (pp. 43-65), IV. "Glossary of Non-Theophorous Elements"(pp. 67-92), V. "Grammar of the West Semitic Names" (pp. 93-118), and VI. "West Semites at Nippur" (pp. 119-28). The book ends with an Appendix entitled "Names of Uncertain Origin" (pp. 129-30) and a "Select Bibliography" (pp. 131-42). The Documentation Prior to the publication of the book under review, a considerable part of the West Semitic onomasticon of the Murasid Archive was analyzed in various articles, as well as in many scattered notes found in monographs dealing with related matters. The title of Coogan's book conveys that the author does not pretend to present an analysis of all the West Semitic personal names in the MuragU Archive.
