What is Etymology and History of Photography about?
The word "photography" comes from the Greek words for "light" and "drawing" or "writing", meaning "drawing with light". Several people may have coined the term independently around 1839 to describe photographic processes. The earliest known use of the term in print was in a 1839 German newspaper article discussing several priority claims for photography inventions. The main inventors of early photographic processes - Nicéphore Niépce, Henry Fox Talbot, and Louis Daguerre - did not use the term "photography"
