Subacromial Anatomy and Biomechanics Related to the Impingement Syndrome by Charles E Neagle; James B Bennett is a scholarly article available to read on EtoBox.

What is Subacromial Anatomy and Biomechanics Related to the Impingement Syndrome about?

Shoulder girdle evolution, anatomy, biomechanics, and potential etiologies of impingement are reviewed. It is apparent that shoulder impingement can occur as a secondary phenomenon in the presence of certain intrinsic shoulder pathology. Rotator cuff lesions frequently involve tendon degeneration. Subacromial impingement is believed to play a major role in this degenerative process. In addition, it is postulated that cuff degeneration precedes subacromial impingement more frequently than is commonly believed. A multifactorial etiology in which the relative importance of a specific element varies from case to case best explains tendon degeneration. KEY WORDS:
