About this document
Overview of Wireless Application Protocol by Shikha Abimnyu is a document available to read on EtoBox.
WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) is a protocol for accessing information over wireless networks. It allows developers to make web applications for mobile devices. WAP uses WML (Wireless Markup Language) instead of HTML. It includes a microbrowser and is based on Internet standards like TCP/IP. WAP was created in 1997 and supports many wireless networks. It works by having a mobile device request WML content, which goes through a WAP gateway to a web server and back to the device to be displayed.
