What is Oscar Wilde about?

Oscar Wilde reflects on a morning in Florence, Italy. The oleander plant on the wall has turned crimson with the dawn, though grey shadows still linger over the city. Only the leaves are gently stirred by the breeze and a lonely nightingale can be heard singing in the almond-scented valley. The poet asks the nightingale to keep singing for love before the dawn arrives and reveals its long white fingers, not caring if its song delights his heart or if the nightingale should die.
