What is George, Lennie, and Candy about?

George thanks Slim for giving Lennie a puppy. Slim notes that while Lennie works hard, he is not very bright. George tells Slim how he and Lennie became friends after George took care of Lennie when his aunt died. Candy joins them in the bunkhouse and reluctantly allows Carlson to shoot his old suffering dog.
