What is Diabesity about?

This large prospective study from Mexico investigated the joint associations of diabetes and obesity (diabesity) with mortality. The study followed over 154,000 participants for around 18 years. Participants were classified into six groups based on diabetes and obesity status. Diabesity carried the highest risk for all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, followed by those with normal weight and diabetes. Diabetes was the main driver of mortality risk across all groups.
