What is Venezuelan Hemorrhagic Fever Overview about?

This study summarizes epidemiological and clinical data from 165 cases of Venezuelan hemorrhagic fever (VHF) between 1989-1997. VHF is caused by Guanarito virus and is endemic to a region of central Venezuela. The majority of cases were male agricultural workers during peak agricultural seasons. Common symptoms included fever, headache, vomiting, and hemorrhaging. The overall fatality rate was 33.3% despite hospitalization and treatment.
