This study investigates the pain associated with long buccal nerve block injections in 112 patients with irreversible pulpitis, focusing on needle insertion and solution deposition pain. Results indicate that 41% to 46% of patients experience moderate-to-severe pain during the procedure, and the use of topical anesthetic does not significantly reduce the pain of needle insertion. The findings highlight the need for further research to minimize pain associated with this common dental procedure.
