What is Fiji Environment Management Act 2019 about?

The Environment Management (Budget Amendment) Act 2019 amends the Environment Management Act 2005 to prohibit the manufacturing, selling, supplying, or distributing of plastic bags in Fiji. Offenders can face fines up to $500,000 or imprisonment for up to 7 years for manufacturing, and fines up to $150,000 or imprisonment for up to 2 years for selling or distributing plastic bags. This Act comes into effect on January 1, 2020.
