This document describes a plane strain plasticity analysis of a square plate under bi-axial tension. A 4-node isoparametric element is used to model the unit square plate. Both perfect plasticity and isotropic hardening material models are considered. The plate is subjected to eight load increments of increasing displacement in the horizontal and vertical directions. Stresses are calculated and compared to theoretical values, showing good agreement for both material models.
