Can I read Late Minoan Chronology on EtoBox?
Late Minoan Chronology by Mervyn R. Popham is a Arts and Humanities article available to read on EtoBox.
What is Late Minoan Chronology about?
The general synchronism of the Egyptian XVIIIth Dynasty with the Late Minoan I to IIIA phases is beyond dispute, but more precise dating within this period is difficult to determine. The best terminus post quem for the Late Minoan period remains the lid inscribed with the name of the Hyksos king Khyan, found by Sir Arthur Evans at Knossos (PM I, 419, fig. 304 a,b)' in a Middle Minoan III context which Evans later, and perhaps too precisely, defined as MM IIIA. There is a synchronism between MM IIIB and the Cyclades in the "bird vases" found in the Temple Repositories at Knossos.
