The third stage of alcoholism is physical and emotional deterioration. In this stage, the alcoholic is obsessed with drinking and cannot function without alcohol. Their health also seriously declines as their body organs are damaged by alcohol, and they may need to be hospitalized. The alcoholic lives only to drink and can spend whole days drinking without food.
