Tyrannosaurus rex was a large carnivorous theropod dinosaur that lived during the late Cretaceous period, around 68-66 million years ago. As the largest known member of the tyrannosaurid family, T. rex could reach up to 40 feet in length, 13 feet tall, and weigh over 7 tons.
