Three shared-anolyte microbial fuel cell setups were constructed with plant spacings of 5, 7, and 9 cm between each of three plants. The setup with 5 cm spacing generated the highest voltage at 20.8% of the potential voltage, showing plant microbial fuel cells could be a potential candidate for future power generation if high density planting is used.
