What is Understanding Magnetism and Electromagnetism about?
Magnets have north and south poles and attract or repel other magnets. Ferromagnetic materials can be magnetized to form permanent magnets. Electromagnets are temporary magnets formed using coils of wire and electric current. The magnetic field describes the area of influence of a magnet and is represented by field lines. According to the Lorentz force law, a charged particle experiences a force in a magnetic field which is perpendicular to both its velocity and the magnetic field lines. The right hand rule
