Climate Change and Control of Ticks and Tick-borne Diseases by Nicholas Johnson is a book available to read on EtoBox.

What is Climate Change and Control of Ticks and Tick-borne Diseases about?

The next two chapters of this book deal with two contemporary issues that are critical for tick biology, ecology, and disease. The first (Chapter 12) considers the impact of climate change on ticks and the effect this will have on their distribution, behavior, and pathogen transmission. The second (Chapter 13) provides a comprehensive review of the past, present, and future methods of controlling ticks and, again, the pathogens they transmit. For both subjects, particular emphasis is given to the importance of surveillance in monitoring ticks in response to environmental change and defining the threat posed by tick-borne disease to humans and livestock. Surveillance, in all its forms, provides the information from which trends can be monitored and risk accurately assessed. It therefore provides the cornerstone for any control program.
