José Antonio Calcaño Calcaño was a prominent Venezuelan musicologist, educator, composer and conductor born in 1900. He pursued music studies from 1910-1918 and continued privately until 1936. He had a long diplomatic career from 1929-1946 serving in various consular roles. He taught music history and composition from 1951 until his death in 1978.
