What is Food Adulteration Awareness in Udupi about?

This study assessed the knowledge of food adulteration among 75 families in a village in Udupi Taluk, Karnataka. It found that the majority (60%) had moderate knowledge of food adulteration. Some food samples were found to be adulterated: 2.7% of chili powder samples contained artificial color and 10.7% of salt samples contained insoluble impurities. There was a significant association between knowledge and both age and education level, with those aged 25-50 and with higher education having better knowledge
