h i g h l i g h t s g r a p h i c a l a b s t r a c t A series of comb-shaped fluorenebased poly (arylene ether sulfone nitrile) membranes was prepared. Effect of nitrile groups on membrane's morphology and properties was studied. The membranes showed high hydroxide conductivity in the range of 27.1e91.5 mS cm À1 . Superb ratios of conductivity to swelling ratio were achieved at 80 C.
