This study examined the relationship between subclinical ketosis (SCK) and insulin resistance in dairy cattle during the transition period. Blood samples were taken from 24 cows near calving and tested for beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHBA) levels. Cows with BHBA levels over 1.20-2.9 mmol/L without clinical signs were considered to have SCK (n=20), while those under 1.00 mmol/L served as controls (n=4).
