This document describes an ultrasound-assisted synthesis of 2-amino-2-chromenes using cetyltrimethylammonium bromide in aqueous media. An equimolar mixture of aldehyde, malononitrile, phenol, and CTABr in water is sonicated to produce the products in good to excellent yields. The effect of catalyst amount and reaction conditions on product conversions is examined.
