What is Prospero and Ariel about?

Prospero checks in with Ariel to see if the spirit has completed its tasks. Ariel has finished and reminds Prospero that he promised to release Ariel from service after a full year. However, Prospero insists they have more important work to do in the next two hours and does not free Ariel yet, reminding the spirit that he saved it from a painful torment. Ariel acknowledges this but still hopes to gain its freedom once the time is up.
