The document describes an experimental study on separating shredded plastic mixtures using a tribo-cyclone. The mixture of PET and PE flakes is fed into a tribo-cyclone where friction charging occurs. The charged flakes then fall through a horizontal electric field into collection bins, with the field directing flakes based on charge polarity. Grades above 95% and recoveries over 75% were achieved for each plastic component. The tribo-cyclone provides an efficient dry process for separating plastic mixtures
