What is Public Opinion on Shale Gas Fracking about?

A survey of over 2000 people in the UK found that only 14% would be happy to have a fracking gas well site within 10 miles of their home, while 47% would be unhappy. Only 30% reported having a good understanding of fracking, with 46% of those understanding it being unhappy about a nearby site. Those against fracking sites near their home cited concerns about environmental damage (80%), truck traffic and noise (63%), water contamination (60%), health risks (59%), and chemicals used (59%).
