About this document

Deep Learning Uncovers Archaeal Antibiotics by Edgardo Gutierrez is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This study utilizes deep learning to explore the archaeal proteome for potential new antibiotics, identifying 12,623 molecules with antimicrobial activity, termed archaeasins. Of the synthesized archaeasins, 93% demonstrated in vitro efficacy against various pathogenic bacteria, with archaeasin-73 showing significant in vivo effectiveness comparable to established antibiotics. The findings underscore the potential of archaea as a novel source for antibiotic discovery amidst rising antimicrobial resistance.
