What is Induced Sputum Yield in Pulmonary TB about?
The study assesses the yield of induced sputum and broncho-alveolar lavage fluid in diagnosing pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) in patients unable to produce adequate sputum. Out of 100 clinically diagnosed TB patients, 17% were induced sputum smear positive and 30% were CBNAAT positive, with no cases of rifampicin resistance detected. The findings suggest that induced sputum and BAL fluid are effective alternatives for TB diagnosis in smear-negative patients.
