What is Clozapine about?
This study examined the effects of clozapine on substance use disorders among 151 patients with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. 36 patients received clozapine during the study. Patients taking clozapine experienced significant reductions in alcohol use, averaging 54.1 drinking days off clozapine and 12.5 days on clozapine. 79% of patients on clozapine were in remission from alcohol use disorder for over 6 months, compared to only 33.7% not on clozapine.
