XX WELCOME ADDRESS OF PROF. A. SALAM from developing countries and half from the rich countries visit the Centre every year. We are supported by generous grants from the Government of Italy, as well as, of course, from IAEA and UNESCO. The University of Trieste and the town and region of Trieste, whose Mayor is present \_today, have taken the Centre to their hearts and for their innumerable courtesies,• we are very grateful. Let me, in conclusion, express once again our deepest appreciation to the organizers. I wish the partecipants in the meeting a very happy period of stay in Trieste and at the Centre.
