New Zealand is expected to warm by about 3°C over the next century with northern polar regions warming more than 6°C and large continents warming 4°C or more, while the Southern Ocean around New Zealand may warm by only 2°C. Changes will include increased rainfall on the west coast, drier conditions in some east coast regions, rising sea levels, and glaciers and snow lines retreating.
