About this document

Tracheostomy Timing in COVID-19 Patients by Dewa Oka is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This study aimed to determine the optimal timing for tracheostomy insertion in COVID-19 patients requiring prolonged mechanical ventilation. The study analyzed 176 critically ill COVID-19 patients, finding that patients who survived were typically liberated from ventilation by day 7, while nonsurvivors died around day 10. Using these timepoints, the study proposed day 13-17 as the optimal window for considering tracheostomy insertion to balance benefit and risk.
